HRH Ambassador Reema on US-Saudi Arabia Relations
About this event
The United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia share a long-standing bilateral and economic relationship: the United States is Saudi Arabia’s largest trading partner, while Saudi Arabia serves as the United States’ second leading source of imported oil for the United States. Despite these factors, tensions emerged between the two countries in recent years on a number of issues, notably human rights, women’s empowerment, and responses to regional conflicts. Yet some critics also describe the alliance as one of interests over values, and suggest the relationship must be reset. Join the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in welcoming Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States, for a conversation on the future of the US-Saudi Arabia relationship.
