Intern: Emerging Leaders
This internship will be hybrid (mostly virtual with some in-person days). Preference will be given to applicants who are able to be in our Prudential Plaza office on Thursdays, whether in full or in part.
About the Emerging Leaders Program: Each year, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs selects a highly competitive cohort of Chicago’s up-and-coming mid-career professionals to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program. This program is a global affairs training and leadership development program that provides an expansive platform for selected leaders to deepen their fluency in and exposure to global affairs and policy.
The Emerging Leaders Program team develops and implements the year-long program curriculum, manages program evaluations and analysis, tracks and engages program alumni, and drives recruitment and organic brand visibility efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research to support Emerging Leaders Program curriculum content delivery, including:
- Identifying potential preparatory materials for Emerging Leaders sessions
- Aggregating details about potential Chicago-area professionals to host for future sessions
- Supporting development of a "speakers’ bureau" database for internal use
- Support efforts to track Emerging Leaders Program alumni in service of driving sustained outreach and engagement:
- Execute annual comprehensive updates of the Emerging Leaders alumni database, including professional updates and areas of expertise
- Establish mechanism(s) for and regularly monitor social media coverage and news related to the Emerging Leaders community for inclusion in the monthly newsletter
- Draft social media posts to share program content and alumni community to support future recruitment efforts
- Assist with a comprehensive audit of Emerging Leaders Program data, including applicant, financial, and program impact data:
- Enter data, pull reports, and provide ongoing data maintenance in Salesforce and AirTable
- Audit and clean program data backlog in Microsoft Excel
- Help streamline aggregate data into a centralized database
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- College undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate student
- Demonstrated interest in the Council's leadership development programming
- Keen attention to detail
- Efficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with marketing and/or data analysis preferred, but not required
- Ability to attend three of five Emerging Leaders sessions in-person at our downtown Chicago office:
- Friday, September 5 (1:00-5:30 pm)
- Wednesday, September 17 (4:00-8:30 pm)
- Friday, October 3 (1:00-5:30 pm)
- Wednesday, October 15 (4:00-8:30 pm)
- Friday, November 7 (1:00-5:30 pm)
