About Julián Ventura
Julián Ventura is a career diplomat on leave from the Mexican Foreign Service. In a career spanning over three decades in bilateral, regional, and global roles, he has held various senior positions at home and abroad, most recently as Deputy Foreign Secretary and G-20 Sherpa. Ventura has also served as Undersecretary for North America, Ambassador to China and the United Kingdom, Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy to the United States, Director-General for Asia-Pacific Affairs, and Chief of Staff to the Foreign Secretary.
Ventura has extensive experience in Inter-American issues and the UN system, having also served as head of political affairs in Mexico’s embassy in Cuba, as well as alternate representative to the Organization of American States and to the International Organizations in Vienna, Austria.
A frequent media analyst on international issues and participant in various global policy fora, Ventura is currently a senior advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group and an associate fellow in the US and North America Programme at Chatham House.
