Macarena Vidal
Correspondent, El País’ Washington Bureau
Macarena Vidal is a correspondent for El País in Washington DC, where she covers mostly foreign policy. She was previously based in Asia for ten years, where she covered the rise of Xi Jinping’s China, the nuclear threats from North Korea and the transnational impact of the covid pandemic, among other issues. Before that, she was the White House correspondent for the Spanish Agencia EFE for a decade. As a reporter with EFE she has also been a correspondent in London and has been posted to the Middle East and the Balkans. She is co-author of “El País Más Feliz del Mundo”, a chronicle of her travels to North Korea.
