Nader Nadery is a Senior Fellow at the Wilson Center and a Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. A human rights advocate, Nadery was appointed as a member of Afghanistan’s peace negotiation team for the peace talks in Doha. Nadery previously served in a number of different roles, including chairman of the independent Civil Service Commission of Afghanistan, senior advisor to the Afghan president on strategic affairs and human rights, director of the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit, commissioner of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, and director of Afghanistan programs for Global Rights: Partners for Justice. Nadery also founded the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan and cofounded the Afghan Civil Society Forum. Nadery has written extensively on politics, human rights, women’s rights, and democracy.
