Louise Arbour
Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
Louise Arbour is special counsel for Borden Ladner Gervais, LLP. She served as Chief Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and for Rwanda from 1996-1999. She was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1999, and served until 2004, when she was appointed as United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights where she served until 2008. She most recently served as Special Representative to the UN Secretary-General for International Migration from 2017-2018. She is the recipient of numerous recognitions and awards, including the Order of Canada. She currently serves as a board member for the Kofi Annan Foundation.
