Women, Equity, and Global Development Symposium 2016
About This Event
Health in adulthood often starts in the earliest years of a child’s life. From nutrition in the first 1,000 days, to staying active and safe after school, the lessons learned in the formative years pay dividends to the health and the productivity of society. Globally, girls face the greatest challenges as they have less access to critical resources than their male counterparts. Now, advances in mobile health, wearables, and communication are making health education more accessible to women and girls in all corners of the globe. How are scientific developments and technological innovations changing the way we are thinking about girls' health? What are the priorities for supporting the growth of young girls into healthy and productive leaders?
This year’s symposium will explore the health of the next generation for women and girls locally, nationally, and internationally. A network of international thought-leaders joins the Council for a series of keynotes and break-out sessions that will lead to new ideas and greater understanding of what is working, and where more effort is needed.
