We offer a wide array of leadership development opportunities for rising leaders, young professionals, and students to increase their global fluency and lend their voices to foreign policy and global affairs discussions.
Engaging the Next Generation

Emerging Leaders Program
Each year, we select a group of high performing, mid-career professionals from across Chicago’s business, civic, and academic sectors to participate in this leadership development program and deepen their skills and experience analyzing global issues and policies.
YP Network
Nearly 1,500 smart, sophisticated Council members under the age of 45 participate in the Council's Young Professionals (YP) Network to connect with each other and influential leaders, gaining valuable contacts and insights to succeed in a fast-changing global landscape.
Internship Program
We offer incredible learning opportunities for undergraduate juniors and seniors and graduate students interested in global affairs. Interns participate in a variety of duties across all teams associated with ongoing projects.
Student Engagement
We provide high school and university students opportunities to hear from foreign policy experts, examine policy questions, and connect with peers.
The Richard C. Longworth Media Fellowships
The Richard C. Longworth Media Fellowships, a collaboration with the Pulitzer Center, aims to promote international reporting by Chicago and Midwestern journalists.
