Yawei Liu is the senior advisor on China at The Carter Center and adjunct professor of political science at Emory University. An expert on US-China relations and Chinese grassroots democracy, he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and associate director of the China Research Center in Atlanta. Dr. Liu currently directs the Carter Center’s China Focus, editing the Center’s US-China Perception Monitor and China-America Stories websites. He also publishes the Center’s Finding Firmer Ground report series exploring how dialogue, conflict management, and collaboration between the US and China can sustain peace and prosperity in East Asia.
