Kian Tajbakhsh
Senior Advisor to Global Centers, Columbia University
Kian Tajbakhsh is an Iranian American scholar, social scientist, and urban planner. He currently serves as the senior advisor to Global Centers Columbia University, where he works on university-wide initiatives focused on Global Migration. Tajbakhsh is a Coordinator of the Committee on Forced Migration, and a fellow with Columbia’s Committee on Global Thought. Prior to his work at Columbia, Kian worked as an international expert on democracy and human rights promotion, urban policy and government reform, and international social science research. In this capacity, he worked as a consultant for the World Bank on a municipal management and local economic development study on Iran. He has written extensively and has been interviewed by major international media about the recent wave of Iran protests, his essay “Iran’s First Feminist Uprising”, has been widely cited.
