Ali Vaez
Senior Adviser to the President & Project Director, Iran, International Crisis Group

Ali Vaez is the director of the Iran Project and senior adviser to the president at the International Crisis Group. Previously, he served as a senior political affairs officer at the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and was Iran project director at the Federation of American Scientists. He is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and a fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. A former foreign correspondent for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, he is co-author of How Sanctions Work: Iran and the Impact of Economic Warfare.
