About This Event

Nestled in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, one of the largest Mexican communities in the country, the National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) holds more than 10,000 works spanning 3,600 years of creativity from both sides of the border. As the only nationally accredited Latino museum in the United States, NMMA provides an important look not only into a people’s cultural heritage but also into how they tell their story to the world. Join fellow Emerging Leaders alumni for a docent-led tour of the museum's galleries, where ancient Mesoamerican artifacts, Chicano muralism, and contemporary works exist in conversation with one another and with us.

After the tour, we'll step back and ask the bigger questions: What does it mean for a diaspora community to define its own cultural narrative? How does art born at the intersection of two nations illuminate the tensions and possibilities of migration and belonging?

After the tour, we're happy to provide local restaurant recommendations, so you can continue the conversation over dinner!

This event is part of our The World At Our Door series.
