Shoba Pillay

Before her time at Jenner & Block, Shoba Pillay was an assistant United States attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the northern district of Illinois—assigned to the national security and cybercrimes section. As a former federal prosecutor in Chicago, she has experience investigating and prosecuting matters involving cybercrime, international and domestic terrorism, traditional and economic espionage, theft of trade secrets, illegal export of defense articles, international and gang-related narcotics and firearms trafficking, complex fraud, child exploitation, and human trafficking. She is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law, where she teaches a trial advocacy course; and at the University of Illinois, where she teaches a course on cybersecurity and the law. Before joining the US Attorney’s Office, Pillay was a litigation associate at Greenberg Traurig, LLP where she handled white-collar criminal defense matters and a wide variety of complex commercial litigation. Prior to law school, Pillay was a management consultant at Ernst & Young, LLP, where she worked with companies in the aerospace and defense industry to reengineer and streamline major supply chain business processes using ERP solutions, including SAP software. Pillay received her BA from Washington University in political science and biology, and her JD from the Boston College School of Law.
