Rebecca Neale Hampson
Chief of Staff and US Director, CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization, Paulson Institute
Rebecca Neale Hampson is chief of staff and US director of the CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization at the Paulson Institute. As chief of staff, she is a senior advisor to the Institute’s chairman, former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, on his efforts to strengthen the US-China relationship. She also oversees Paulson’s strategic priorities and special projects and serves as a chief advisor on his initiatives to tackle US economic challenges and global environmental protection. Additionally, as director of the Paulson Institute’s CEO Council, comprised of 20 top US and Chinese business leaders, Hampson manages strategy and projects aimed to harness the collective impact of business to advance sustainable urbanization practices in China. Previously, Hampson served as director of communications at Teach For America, where she developed and implemented national and regional communications strategies. She also led public affairs campaigns in support of the organization’s expansions in other regions of the country. Prior to that, she was associate director of communications at the White House, where she executed communications and media strategies for administration initiatives to advance public-private partnerships and international development. Additionally, she oversaw media engagement for the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Prior to her work at the White House, Hampson was a spokeswoman at the US Department of Education and a communications advisor to the secretary of education. She also worked at the US Department of Energy as a public affairs representative and as a liaison to the department’s program and field offices. Hampson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University and a master’s degree in communications from the Johns Hopkins University.
