Karla Ruth Orozco Toledano has over a decade of experience in trade, investment, business development, and international affairs. Her expertise spans both the public and private sectors, and she is very intentional in forging significant strategic partnerships.
As director of foreign direct investment at World Business Chicago, she advocates for Chicago as an inclusive economic hub. Her primary focus involves assisting foreign companies in setting up their offices within the Chicagoland area and integrating them into diverse ecosystems, including manufacturing, life sciences, food and agriculture, fintech, transportation, logistics, and more.
Throughout her career, Orozco Toledano has held various government positions within foreign service in the United States, China, and Mexico. Her roles have included director for economic affairs at the Mexican Consulate in Chicago, consul for economic and cultural promotion at the consulate in Guangzhou, director for bilateral tourism cooperation, and deputy director of European and Asian affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Orozco Toledano earned her Bachelor of Arts in international trade and economics from Tec de Monterrey and holds a double master's degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and the University of Peking.
