Richard Nephew is a senior research scholar at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy and adjunct professor at the School of International and Public Affairs. He previously served as the inaugural US coordinator on global anti-corruption at the Department of State and as deputy special envoy for Iran. His earlier roles include principal deputy coordinator for sanctions policy at the State Department and director for Iran at the National Security Council. He is the author of The Art of Sanctions: A View from the Field and holds fellowships at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania.
