About This Event

Since the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite in 1957, space has become home to thousands of satellites that are critical to national and international infrastructure for global communications, navigation, internet, environmental monitoring, and scientific analysis. However, space is also vulnerable to space weaponry and cyber attacks, requiring strategic policies and operations to make a secure and peaceful space environment possible for all. Just nine months after the founding of the sixth branch of the United States military, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs is pleased to welcome Lieutenant General Nina Armagno for a discussion on national security, space technology and policy, and breaking boundaries.
