The Chicago Council on Global Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark Copelovitch, Mallory Knodel and Dr. Patrick Leblond as senior nonresident fellows and Professor Peter Trubowitz as Lester Crown senior nonresident fellow. They join the Council’s roster of esteemed experts in contributing to the Council’s thought leadership, programming and research.  

Dr. Mark Copelovitch joins the Council as senior nonresident fellow on the global economy. Copelovitch is a professor of political science and public affairs and director of European Studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He is an expert on international political economy and international relations, with an emphasis on the politics of international money and finance. He also studies the European Union and its role in the global economy and currently chairs the executive committee of the European Union Studies Association (EUSA). 

Mallory Knodel joins the Council as senior nonresident fellow on technology and governance. Knodel is an expert on how technology shapes power, security and human rights across the globe. She chairs the Internet Research Task Force’s Human Rights Protocol Considerations research group and previously served as chief technologist at the Center for Democracy & Technology in Washington, D.C. 

Dr. Patrick Leblond joins the Council as senior nonresident fellow on global trade. Leblond is an expert on economic governance and policy, including financial and monetary integration, banking regulation, international investment, international trade, data governance and business-government relations. He is the CN–Paul M. Tellier Chair in Business and Public Policy and an associate professor at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. 

Professor Peter Trubowitz joins the Council as Lester Crown senior nonresident fellow on US foreign policy. Trubowitz is an expert on international relations and American politics. He currently serves as a professor of international relations and director of the Phelan United States Centre at the London School of Economics (LSE) and is an associate fellow at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs. 

“As the US midterm elections approach, the economic impact of US foreign policy and the opportunities and risks presented by emerging technologies are top of mind for many Americans,” said Council President and CEO Dr. Leslie Vinjamuri. “We look forward to working with these leading scholars and experts to deepen understanding of the forces shaping our world and to inform the choices ahead.”
