Matt Pelton
Director, Deal Advisory & Strategy, KPMG LLP
In previous role as a manager in deal advisory at KPMG LLP, Matt Pelton led engagement teams that provide accounting advisory and finance integration services to multinational clients involved in complex transactions and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He is a national facilitator for KPMG Business School, supports local recruitment and go-to-market planning, and volunteers in entrepreneurship and education initiatives throughout Chicago. Pelton has worked extensively in multicultural settings with executives, entrepreneurs, and public sector leaders throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Pelton rejoined KPMG from the African Leadership Group. He was part of the founding team of the African Leadership University (ALU) and co-led international product marketing, new business development, strategic partnerships, and product design for the ALU School of Business. Previously, he led the Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship and organized global events for the African Leadership Network. He began his career at the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and in KPMG’s San Francisco office.
Pelton received his MA in international relations from IE School of Global and Public Affairs in Madrid, Spain, and his bachelor’s in accounting and business, with minors in economics and Spanish from Augustana College. His graduate thesis assessed the relationship between entrepreneurial education, economic development, and security in sub-Saharan Africa.
