Kathleen Slingerland leads the regulatory affairs function at Farmless, an innovative company that brews planet-friendly proteins using microorganisms and renewable energy. Throughout her career, Slingerland has leveraged scientific knowledge and policy to advocate for safer and more sustainable food ingredients, chemicals, and materials.

Slingerland has managed complex strategic issues and worked with governments and associations worldwide to influence new and emerging regulations and policies on a variety of scientific topics, including food ingredient approvals, new chemical management, biotechnology, and safety. She is an avid believer in the power of innovation to solve the world’s greatest challenges and strives to make a positive impact on people and the planet.

Slingerland holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in global policy from Northwestern University, a master's of public health degree in environmental health sciences from the University of Minnesota (with a focus in toxicology and global health), and a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology from Drake University.
