Carolyn Baer

Program Manager, Global Health Program, Boston Children's Hospital

Carolyn Baer is a global health specialist with over 20 years of experience leading programs focused on reproductive health for women and girls in humanitarian settings, as well as infectious disease surveillance and response. She played a key role in launching the Center for Global Health and currently oversees global medical research and educational initiatives.

In 2010, Baer was a lead coordinator for the Chicago Medical Response Team to Haiti—a collaboration among six Chicago institutions recognized with multiple awards for its work following the earthquake. Earlier in her career, she worked with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting infectious disease surveillance and prevention efforts. She also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso.

Baer holds a BA from the University of Kansas, where she studied abroad in France, and an MPH with a focus on refugee health from Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
