Anthony Simpkins is a leader in Chicago’s affordable housing community and has held multiple roles serving the City of Chicago. As Managing Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Housing, he administered housing and community development policies, programs, and strategic investments. Before that, he was appointed a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County by the Illinois Supreme Court and was a senior counsel for buildings and land use litigation at the City of Chicago Law Department. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Islamic Law and Culture, a board member of the Muslim Bar Association of Chicago, and the author of many articles on housing-related issues. He earned his BA in political science from the University of Illinois and both his MA in political science and his JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
