Amy Maglio
Founder & Executive Director, Women’s Global Education Project

Amy Maglio is the founder and executive director of Women’s Global Education Project (WGEP), an organization recognized for its innovative women's empowerment approach by the Obama Foundation, IBM, and the UN Girls Education Initiative. With a master’s degree from American University and a bachelor’s from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Maglio began her career in girls' education as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa, where she informally started WGEP by helping her village sister attend school. Under her leadership, WGEP's model has been presented as a “Best Practice” at the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative Conference, and she has collaborated with global stakeholders, including the UN and Fortune 500 companies. Maglio's work with WGEP was highlighted in the 2019 documentary “Rebecca’s Story” as part of the Obama Foundation’s Global Girls Alliance. Among her numerous accolades, Maglio received the Deborah Harding Women of Peace Corps Legacy Award.
