Florita Gunasekara
Assistant Director, Global Cities

Florita Gunasekara joined the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in 2019 and is currently the assistant director of the Center on Global Cities. In this role, she develops and executes a variety of global cities programs and events, including the Pritzker Forum on Global Cities. She also supports and produces research on urban policy. Gunasekara is a policy practitioner in the areas of climate change, disaster risk reduction, and migration. Previously, she worked for the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Volunteers, International Organization for Migration, and with national and local government agencies in Sri Lanka. She has an MS in environmental science from American University and an MA in geography from the University of Peradeniya.
