Ivo H. Daalder served as the US ambassador to NATO from 2009 to 2013. He joined the Council as president in 2013, took on the new role of CEO in 2023, and now serves as president emeritus. Previously, he was a senior fellow in foreign policy studies at the Brookings Institution and served as director for European affairs on President Bill Clinton’s National Security Council.

Jon Finer served four years as President Biden’s Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, advising on foreign policy and leading national security and crisis response. A recipient of the National Security Medal, the president’s highest award for contributions to national security, he also held various roles in the Obama administration.

She previously served as senior vice president and director of the international security program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Donald Marron Scholar at the Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.
