Editorial Policies and Ethics

Blue Marble was founded in 2023 to help the next generation shape a more open and promising world. Our team believes that storytelling not only informs and inspires, but also leads to impactful investments in the future. Our work is informed by our collective mission to encourage curiosity, instill confidence, and cultivate commitment to understanding and bettering our world.

Editorial Integrity & Independence

While Blue Marble is supported by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Blue Marble retains editorial independence. The Executive Editor of Blue Marble is responsible for establishing editorial priorities and processes. Donors, directors, and board members of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs do not engage in or influence editorial decision-making.

Sourcing

At Blue Marble, we recognize that expertise takes many forms. We seek to include the voices of those who possess deep knowledge of our world’s most pressing issues through lived experience or extensive research. We do not feature the voices of people who promote hostility or harm toward an individual or community. All sources are carefully vetted by our team to ensure accuracy in our coverage, and we grant anonymity only at the direction of the Executive Editor.

Corrections

All Blue Marble editorial content is carefully reviewed to ensure accuracy and fairness prior to publication. We further rely on our community of global readers to hold us accountable in the event a piece of content is published that does not meet our mission and standards. Should we receive word that a correction is warranted, our team will quickly address the issue. To contact us with a correction, please email our team at BlueMarble@globalaffairs.org.
