If you look deep enough the Army can find a way to keep you from an requested assignment. If they want you to have it they will find a way to waive whatever disqualifies you. This young lady had somebody pulling against her.
On the other hand it could be the Army only had so many slots and she was the one out because she did not touch all the buttons.
No, this was pretty cut and dry bureaucratic fuckery that only our military could provide.
She was disqualified from going to a school to be promoted because she was (once) sick by failing a medical checkpoint, but they had no problem declaring her healthy enough in sending her back to a combat zone(where she probably got the cancer from in the first place).
