We have lost sight of a very important dividing line. That line of a person's private and public lives and their actions. JFK and his numerous affairs, Clinton used the head between his legs more than the one on top of his shoulders. Those two were given passes because they did "great things." Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy is now coming under attack. The MLK tapes. There has been, in all of man's history, only one Man who was Perfect. Everyone else has made mistakes in their past. Some own up to them and try to be better, some can't find the learning curve and so on. When people are excoriated for bad things in their past (especially things that are considered "bad things" in 2019 but not necessarily when they happened), we prevent people from doing good and even extraordinary good for society as a whole. Case in point:
